The governor of Baja California signed an agreement to coordinate the efforts by the Municipal Administration of Tijuana with the government of Mexico to streamline the obtainment of rights of way

In order to strengthen the development of two key federal projects in Baja California, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda held a meeting with officials of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SITC) of the government of Mexico and the Municipal Administration of Tijuana in order to review the progress at the Otay II port of entry and the elevated viaduct between Tijuana’s International Airport and the Matadero Canyon.

At this meeting, Marina del Pilar and Jorge Nuño, Subsecretary of Infrastructure at SICT, as well as Tijuana mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, analyzed specific aspects such as the rights of way and the necessary electrical and hydraulic projects, as well as the facilities and relocations that are required for the optimal development of this project. They also signed an agreement in order to specifically address everything related to the right of way.

Ávila Olmeda reaffirmed the commitment of the state government with the administration of the President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador, so that they can carry out the necessary actions so that public works can be developed optimally in order to benefit Baja Californian society. Specifically, this refers to mobility, the economy, and foreign trade. As such, she clarified that they will work so that the required rights of way are obtained.

The governor added that they will support all institutional follow-up coordination meetings in order to fulfill all the technical, legal, and financial requirements that the government of Mexico needs in order to build the second port of entry in the Otay area, which is very important to speed up border crossings between Mexico and the United States, in order to economically benefit the mega Cali-Baja region.

In that regard, Marina del Pilar underscored that the coordination between the three levels of government will make it possible to streamline and finalize infrastructure projects that will be vital to improve the quality of life of Baja Californians. This is why state authorities will continue to promote communication with federal and municipal institution representatives to promote the required activities.

At this event the following people were present: Secretary of Finance, Marco Antonio Moreno Mexía; the Secretary of the Interior, Catalino Zavala Márquez; Secretary of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign, Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, as well as the head of SICT in Baja California, Georgina Estela Wilhelmy Woolfolk, among other officials.
