Due to violent incidents that took place in the last few weeks where the wellbeing of children and teenagers was affected and they were exposed to several types of physical abuse, the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) opened an investigation file about the criminal incidents that took place where young people were harmed inside these facilities.
The general director of this institution, Mónica Vargas Núñez, explained that on Wednesday, September 14 a complaint was filed at FGE, in order to investigate possible crimes regarding a breach of family assistance obligations, among others.
“Our commitment at DIF Baja California is to look out for the interests of girls, boys, and teenagers and we are not going to allow their rights to be trampled, especially from those who have made the commitment of taking care of them,” she said.
Vargas Núñez stated that on Thursday September 15, due to the complaint, an extraordinary inspection was carried out that concluded with the place being closed down.
In addition, in order to not affect due process, no more details will be revealed about the case, where an adult person has been reported as the one responsible for the incidents.
“Regarding any violent act or infraction that negatively affects the wellbeing, integrity, or rights of children and teenagers under our care, we will be vigilant and we will deal with them until their logical endpoint,” the state official said.
