Otay Port of Entry will have a medical fast lane by the end of September

This is part of the expansion and modernization project at the Otay border crossing

In the next few days, a medical fast lane will be inaugurated at the Otay port of entry, according to a statement by Rodrigo Robledo Silva, Director of Medical Health Clúster.

He claimed that this will launch a new era at the border crossing whose goal is to incentivize medical tourism in our region: “This project will benefit and help to promote consultation offices, clinics, and hospitals, especially in the Otay and Eastern areas of Tijuana,” he said.

Construction of this fast lane at the Otay border crossing includes a booth and an automated crane that elevates itself each time the user shows a QR code. It will begin operations once scheduled work has been finished at the end of this month.

This is part of the expansion and modernization project at the Otay port of entry that was announced on Monday, September 12. It should be noted that this project is being carried out by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection while the fast lane is being carried out by the Mexican government.

This modernization and expansion project expects to reduce waiting times at the border crossing. It is expected that this project concludes in Spring 2023, CBP stated on their website.
