On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, Chef Danny Betancourt went to “Tacos Alicia” located at Boulevard Fundadores, Valle del Rubí, Sección Lomas in Tijuana, Baja California. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a carne asada taco and an adobada taco both priced at $1.4 dollars ($27 pesos).
Adobada Taco
The highlight here was the handmade tortilla and its good size. This taco was the star of the episode due to its delicious flavor and because of the excellent adobada seasoning, as well as the vegetables that were used and the guacamole made with pure avocado flesh.
In addition, the purple onion used instead of the white onion was another highlight since it made the flavor of the dish stand out more. According to our host, the only problem with this taco is that if the meat had been a little more fried it would have been the perfect taco. This is why this taco gets a rating of 9.3.
Price: $1.36 dollars ($27 pesos)
Carne Asada Taco
Regarding the carne asada (grilled beef) taco, its flavor was relatively more inferior than the first, since there was some sort of sweet taste in the marinated meat. The smoked coal flavor of the meat, however, did manage to offset the sweet taste.
Just like the adobada taco, the tortilla was hot and had a good size. The cilantro and the sauce gave it a spicier flavor. Due to its average sweet flavor and the less amount of guacamole used, this taco gets a rating of 8.2.
Price: $1.36 dollars ($27 pesos)
