Hurricane Kay intensifies as it approaches Baja California

It is likely that the hurricane doesn’t get to land but it could bring heavy rains to the region

The National Water Commission (CONAGUA) warned the Baja California peninsula about the arrival of Hurricane Kay which has intensified to Category 2. It is expected to reach Category 3 in the next few days.

This means that it could affect the northern municipalities of the peninsula, although not severely. On Friday and Saturday, rain and downpours are expected in Tijuana. The probabilities of this are 50% according to weather media outlet, Meteored.

According to information revealed, some other municipalities such as Ensenada and San Quintin will have rain during the weekend due to the hurricane. Meanwhile, Baja California Sur will be the most affected by Kay with some beaches being closed due to the waves it will cause.

“The monitoring zone is still active due to the effects of this tropical storm from northern Santa Rosalía, Baja California Sur all the way to Bahía de los Ángeles, Baja California. From San José de las Palomas, Baja California to northern Punta Eugenia, Baja California Sur,” CONAGUA said in a statement.

It should be noted that cloudy weather is expected in Baja California on Wednesday. However, it will still feel hot. The maximum temperature in Tijuana today will be 34 °C and the minimum will be 23 °C.
