The Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda signed an agreement that will boost mobility and innovation projects between Mexico City and Baja California, which have as a goal modernizing the public life of people by giving them access to technology in order to promote a digital government.

During her speech while visiting the state, Sheinbaum congratulated Marina del Pilar, pointing out that she has full support from the Government of Mexico City, because she is a governor who has been accepted and approved by the inhabitants of her state. Which is why this intergovernmental collaboration will make a difference to improve the quality of life for people in both federal entities.

The Head of Government of Mexico City stated that both Baja California and Mexico City share several social characteristics, one of them being cultural diversity. This is because both states have been subjected to continuous immigration processes throughout its history from other Mexican regions and foreign nations. This element, she said, has enriched society and has made it a source of development.

“The agreement we signed today is not only to share the knowledge the government of Mexico City has learned to be used by the Baja Californian administration, but it is also a coordination agreement in which we will all mutually learn,” Sheinbaum Pardo highlighted during her speech in front of Baja Californian social leaders, politicians, and businessmen.

An example of progress, Sheinbaum said, is the creation of the Digital Public Innovation Agency, which has managed to increase exponentially the number of paperwork and documents obtained by citizens such as driver’s licenses, vehicular circulation cards, and birth certificates.

“It can be used by everyone and is available for the government of Baja California,” underscored Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

These processes, explained Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, will be followed up through Baja California’s Digital Agency (ADBC) which will take advantage of the knowledge provided by the government of Mexico City to build in Baja California an authentic digital government, that entails not only a streamlining of public processes, but also important progress to get closer to people and their needs.

Marina del Pilar welcomed Claudia Sheinbaum emphasizing that she is a permanent ally of all Baja Californians, which is why the combined wills of everyone will make it possible for substantial quality of life improvements to positively affect people’s lives, especially those who need it the most which is one of the social principles of the Fourth Transformation.

The governor highlighted that Sheinbaum Pardo has made history in the development of Mexico City. Since 2000, she has collaborated with current President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador, which is why the information she has brought to the Baja Californian administration will be decisive in order to build a better state with better mobility, and with a truly authentic government.

“Mexico City is one of the most important cities in the entire world and for me, it is truly a privilege to be able to do the things you have already promoted because it will force governments to deliver better alternatives for our citizens. These alternative life improvements can be applied through instruments that help people to obtain their paperwork, which was once very bureaucratic and made us waste time, much faster with our cellphones and from home. Our challenge in Baja California is to become a digital state with digital municipalities,” Governor Marina del Pilar said.

Marina del Pilar specially thanked the transportation industry that showed up to witness this agreement signing, since they play an essential role in building a mobility scheme that benefits Baja Californian society, and that also requires permanent coordination between the business sector and authorities.

At the signing of this agreement the following people were present: General Secretary of the Government of Baja California, Catalino Zavala Márquez; Head of the Digital Agency of Baja California, Gabriel Palombo; Jorge Gutiérrez Topete, General Director of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Institute, and President of the National Chamber of Cargo Transportation (CANACAR) in Tijuana, Tecate, and Playas de Rosarito, Alfonso Millán.

On the other hand, as part of an intense work schedule in Baja California, Claudia Sheinbaum led a conference at Tijuana’s Cultural Center (CECUT) facilities where she spoke about the challenges and opportunities regarding the rollout of public policies and the success these plans have had, carried out by the Mexico City government.
