Yolanda Walther-Meade was described by Baja Window to the South host Olga Sánchez de la Vega as a “wonder woman” of the Cali-Baja region due to her organization “This Is About Humanity”, which she helps her husband to manage. Along with other co-founders, they started this project approximately four years ago.

At first, it was created in order to help separated and reunited families at the border. Once it started to grow, it concentrated in vulnerable communities on both sides of the Cali-Baja region, so as to find ways to raise awareness and raise funds to support these groups.

It should be noted that the aid by This Is About Humanity is not about a specific group, since it is looking to create tangible defenses as well as support in several different aspects. These range from supporting small children that have been separated from their families, those who lack an education, and families that need food and security. They are also ensuring that children and teenagers have access to welfare and mental health.

As a result of detecting these needs, This Is About Humanity was able to attract stakeholders, interested people, and donors to the cause so that they can help to improve lives. There are currently 40 non-profit organizations in Tijuana, San Diego, and more that are being helped.

On August 27, there will be a dinner hosted by this organization which will invite around 14 chefs. These include Aarón Sánchez, Carlos Gaytan, David Castro, Ruffo Ibarra, and other chefs from LA, as well as mixologists from Licorería Limantour of Mexico City. All of this in order to help This Is About Humanity to raise funds in order to continue supporting these vulnerable groups.

If you wish to attend this dinner, click here to go to this organization’s official website. If you are unable to attend the event, you will still be able to get information regarding donations and service days to experience firsthand this charitable work and those who benefit from it.
