Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar announces “Auctions for a Cause” program

Former state administration public properties will be auctioned and what’s collected will be used directly to benefit the state’s development

Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced the “Auctions for a Cause” program through which former state administration public properties will be auctioned and whatever’s collected will be used to directly benefit the development of Baja California. This is in order to guarantee that public assets and goods are used in a transparent manner.

Marina del Pilar said that, following the President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s example, the Government of Baja California can be held accountable, which is why public properties are not sold or are used for business with friends or third parties, but instead, are managed with transparency and with a social vision for development. Ávila Olmeda highlighted that Auctions for a Cause is a historical event for the state, since it is something that has never happened before in the history of past state administrations.

“The first of these auctions will take place next August 12 at the Convention Center of Baja California, located in Rosarito. We will carry it out in complete transparency and following the law. We will offer 68 properties, which will have an individual price of $300,000 pesos and more,” she explained.

In addition, respecting the inclusive vision of the state government, there will be access for all interested people who wish to participate. Also, before the end of 2022, there will be a second Auction for a Cause that will offer 26 additional properties, which reaffirms her commitment to take advantage of resources to benefit the population at large.

“This and other things we have done are the clear example of the work we are doing with our heart above all to give certainty that people’s heritage and assets are being used efficiently and with transparency, following the example of our President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in which nobody gets left behind and everyone’s rights are guaranteed;” she stated.
