Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Baja California Governor, spoke about the renewal of the security strategy in the state in order to deal with crime-related problems more efficiently in the region. She also thanked and welcomed General Ulises Orduña Campos as the new commander of the Second Military Zone.
The goal is to maintain permanent coordination to carry out a series of operatives to help reduce crime in each municipality, especially in areas with the highest crime rates.
The state governor pointed out that the new strategy that is being developed includes several actions such as forming special groups so that each municipality is involved with the Secretariat of the Navy, the Mexican Army, municipal police, and the Citizen Security State Force (FESC). “Mirror” operatives, operatives at Mexicali Valley, and the Vigilant Star operative all delivered results at a municipal level in the state capital of Baja California.
During her visit to Ensenada, Marina del Pilar led the launch of Safety and Peace Week whose goal is to articulate the efforts by the three levels of government in order to promote peace and security in Baja Californian homes and families, claiming a future of well-being for present and future generations.
At this event, several important Ensenada municipal leaders, the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection of Baja California (SSCBC), among other organizations, all participated to reaffirm their commitment to strengthen the results regarding security and crime fighting matters.
In her message to media outlets and Baja Californian society, Marina del Pilar highlighted the courage and symbolism of launching Safety and Peace Week in front of the monumental flag that has become an emblem of the city of Ensenada, since it is a flag that represents the people of Mexico, their ideals to live in peace and reject violence in all of and each of its forms.
“I want you to know that all of us are and will be always more than those who carry out violence. Even in those communities with high crime rates there are more people that live honestly and peacefully,” she said and continued to emphasize that the streets, parks, and plazas all belong to the people and their families. This is why the security strategy is comprehensive because everyone must be involved and participate.
She also highlighted the importance that the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the SSCBC, the State’s Prosecutor Agency (FGE), Mexico’s Prosecutor Agency (FGR) are all part of this strategy as well as all institutional agents that are focused on achieving peace in Baja California. This includes sport and culture promoters, social workers, and other elements that are helping to achieve true social transformations in all communities.
At the Safety and Peace Week launch the following people were present: Víctor Hugo Aguirre Serna, commander of the Second Military Region; Luis Javier Robinson Portillo Villanueva, commander of the Region’s Marine Security; Ulises Orduña Campos, commander of the Second Military Zone; General Gilberto Landeros Briseño, Secretary of Citizen Security of Baja California; Armando Ayala Robles, Municipal President of Ensenada; Alejandro Orozco Rodríguez, technical secretary of the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Protection, and Rubén Alfredo Ramos Jiménez, Ensenada’s regional prosecutor.
