Baja Window to the South is always looking to reveal the wonders of the Baja Californian state and share information about its municipalities. On this occasion, Denitza García, Baja Window to the South’s newest reporter, told us about Ensenada, better known as the “Cinderella of the Pacific.”

Ensenada is the third biggest city of Baja California and thanks to its physical geography, flora, and fauna, it has become Mexico’s biggest municipality. It is located approximately two hours south of San Diego and it is a very important international trading center, being the second busiest port in the entire country.

It is a seaport with more than 7,000 cruise goers, who arrive here each week. You can find resorts with great views, partake in several activities such as fishing and sport diving or enjoy yourself by visiting shops to buy the municipality’s artisan handicrafts.

Here you can enjoy not just the coast, but also the Wine Route since this municipality is known as the “Mexican Wine Capital”. This route will lead you to Valle de Guadalupe, where 90% of Mexican wine is made due to more than 150 winemaking companies. Since it has several diverse gastronomic options such as Mexican, seafood, and Mediterranean food, as well as wine tasting and craft beer breweries, this municipality has become one of the favorite destinations for American tourists.

Foreigners choose this port due to its environment, weather, and food. Among the best places you can visit there are La Bufadora, the seafood market, known as “Mercado Negro”, the cultural and civic center “La Rivera del Pacífico”, the Wine Route, and “La Guerrerense”, which is renowned as one of the best street food carts in Ensenada.
