Marina del Pilar announces new foreign vehicle regularization units in Baja California

The units will start being opened on Monday, July 4

Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced that next Monday, July 4, the state administration will open three new units to regularize foreign vehicles so that owners of these cars can safeguard them. Because of this, she said that these new regularization spaces will be located in the metropolitan municipalities of Tijuana, Tecate, and Playas de Rosarito.

Marina del Pilar thanked the willingness of official members of the Vehicular Public Registry (REPUVE), who were willing to allow these units to access the federal system starting on July 1st, so that people can bring their cars on Monday, July 4. She also emphasized the willingness of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in helping those who need these vehicles to travel to work or for their families’ basic needs, implementing the most important social principles of the Fourth Transformation.

The Secretary of Finance of Baja California Marco Antonio Moreno Mexía stated that these three spots will have one lane during the first week of work to assist around a hundred people a day. However, during the second week in operation there will be five lanes, which will complement the units that already exist and will coordinate state and federal institutions to achieve the stated goals, benefiting those who need their vehicles. It is estimated that around 500,000 vehicles in this condition are currently being used in the seven Baja Californian municipalities.

He also explained that the units will be located: in Tijuana in "Sierra Vera" baseball field in Otay Centenario delegation, in Playas de Rosarito it will be in the Government Center, and in the State Center of the Arts (CEART) in Tecate. The working hours will be from 8:00 AM to 17:00 PM from Monday to Friday.

The state official added that currently the state has the capacity, starting next week, to assist 1,500 people per day, however, in the next few weeks, it is estimated that this number will grow considerably since Governor Marina del Pilar has provided personnel and enough areas so that this regularization program is strengthened while coordinating permanently with federal authorities.

Lastly, Ávila Olmeda invited all vehicle owners to participate in the regularization process, since it is a social act that will have positive consequences in other aspects, such as security and the environment. It will also help people to have ownership of something of value and it will lead to a better future for future generations. At the same time, this helps to advance one of the most important projects of the Mexican government, which has made Baja California one of its priorities.
