In 2020, the Big Bay Boom was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year, it took place but with some restrictions. This year, however, it will be ideal to visit San Diego port on this day since Americans love to celebrate like no other.

Like every year, the 4th of July is the national day of celebration of the United States’ Independence Day. During this celebration, a fireworks show takes place from barges located strategically around the bay in front of Shelter Island, Harbour Island, Embarcadero North, Seaport Village, Embarcadero South Marina Park, and Coronado Ferry Landing.

This great fireworks show is impeccably choreographed and will last approximately 17 minutes. It will begin around 9 PM.

“Tune in to watch California’s greatest fireworks show: The Big Bay Boom! On this Independence Day celebration, four barges will set off the fireworks in San Diego Bay at 9 PM. Don’t miss it!” a statement read from the official Big Bay Boom website.

This event is very important due to the amount of economic revenue it generates due to sales, restaurants, and retail shops, as well as other tourist businesses such as museums, charter cruise firms, boat rental companies, and other local businesses.
