Due to the high number of social media pages offering quicker foreign vehicle regularization services, all people are encouraged not to use this kind of services, said Gustavo Santos Hernández Valenzuela, Director of the Tax Administration Service of Baja California (SAT BC).

He said that they have detected publicity regarding processing companies asking for money to make the vehicle regularization process faster and there are even some that claim that they can do the process themselves even if someone doesn’t own the vehicle’s proof of ownership.

Hernández Valenzuela said that the foreign regularization process is personal and can be carried out easily on the following page: www.bajacalifornia.gob.mx/regularizacionbc

The official stated that this page has a frequently asked questions section where one can read a guide that allows someone to do this process step by step without needing any outside help.

He claimed that on the website www.bajacalifornia.gob.mx/regularizacionbc, created by the Secretariat of Finance, one can find all the necessary information such as: requirements, steps of the process, locations of Public Vehicular Registry (REPUVE) modules, and the forms necessary to complete it.

The Director of SAT BC added that to start the procedure one must obtain a space to receive assistance which is given freely on the previously mentioned page. One can do this in the section titled: Agenda una cita (Schedule an appointment), which, when clicked, will open a link to the Government of Mexico which will ask you for your Unique Population Registration Code (CURP) to begin the process.

Once the appointment is made, the official commented, the person must go to a REPUVE module in their city with all of their original necessary documents such as: official ID, proof of process payment, current driving license, proof of address, original title or receipt of the vehicle, and that the vehicle had entered the country before October 19, 2021, as specified by the decree.

He added that someone must take to the REPUVE module a letter where you state that you are telling the truth, saying that the vehicle is not tied to any crime under investigation or registered penal procedure.
