The governor claimed that an embezzlement of the Baja Californian population was avoided by the termination of the Next Energy contract

Baja California Governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda revealed that an agreement was reached to definitely terminate the contract with the company Next Energy, which would have been for a photovoltaic plant project that would have risked the state's finances.

During the twenty-seventh edition of “Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar” that took place in Tijuana, the governor reconfirmed her commitment to defend Baja Californians’ wealth and heritage so that they are used to benefit people with the highest levels of vulnerability.

Thanks to work carried out by the state government in which they spoke with the company hired by the previous state administration, the contract was completely terminated in all aspects.

"With this, we guarantee that resources that were meant for this project are coming back to the state, so that they can be used in actions that will benefit Baja Californian families", stated Marina del Pilar.

The state governor emphasized that her administration is and will continue to be focused on working honestly to achieve the highest level of welfare for everyone, especially the most vulnerable groups that need the best and highest level of benefits from public resources.

At her morning press conference, Baja California’s Secretary of Finance, Marco Antonio Moreno Mexia, was present. He explained that this unfeasible project, both in execution and financially, was worked on through legal means and through direct dialogue with Next Energy representatives so as to reach an agreement that benefits Baja Californians.

The official added that in the beginning of this current administration it was determined that the photovoltaic plant project was too risky for the state’s public finances, which is why immediate action was taken so as to receive a compensation of the 123 million pesos that had already been granted by a trust.
