Marina del Pilar participates in new Tijuana Airport expansion

The governor participated in the inauguration of the processing building

Tijuana’s International Airport “Abelardo L. Rodríguez” inaugurated its new processing building that will expand its assistance capacity and Baja Californian Governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda led the inauguration of this new infrastructure that plans to increase by 83% the assistance brought to travelers.

She stated:

This is the first thing that those who visit us from the US will see. Tijuana has become a gate to the world, it is a binational airport.

Among officials from the three branches of government, airline executives, and the Pacific Airport Group (GAP), Marina del Pilar stated that Tijuana’s airport is the first impression that visitors get of our country.

”Even more so when we are talking about the most visited and traveled border in the world. Our Tijuana receives hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over Mexico and the world”, she said.

It should be noted that this processing building required an investment of over $5 billion pesos, which are all part of an expansion that meets the demands of current challenges, under the approach that Tijuana is the fourth most traveled airport nationally.

This is why, the Governor of Baja California celebrated the continuous improvement boosted by businessmen to innovate, since Tijuana’s airport is constantly growing along with its number of visitors every year.

Furthermore, she revealed that last April commercial flights that landed at Tijuana’s International Airport increased by 3%, according to data from the Secretariat of Tourism of Baja California, led by Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez.

Marina del Pilar added that April reported 6,436 operations among the different airlines, more than in March with 6,222, a notable increase. Regarding passengers, there was an increase from 967,000 to 993,000 between these two months.

“Today, we are one of the best connected airports in all of Mexico with direct flights to all destinations and an international crossing that is a reference point for the whole world,” she emphasized.

An example of this, as a historical fact, is that the first flight received by the International Felipe Ángeles Airport came from Tijuana, demonstrating the city’s relevance regarding national air mobility.

At this event, the following people were present: GAP General Director, Raúl Revuelta Musalem; GAP Council President, Laura Diez Barroso, as well as businesspeople, specialists, and the general airport community.

Marina del Pilar heads Mother’s Day breakfast

As part of Mother’s Day celebrations, Governor Marina del Pilar led in Mexicali a celebratory breakfast with mothers that work in the public state administration, highlighting the value these women bring to the development of all society.

“Working with heart is what you do when you look into the eyes of a humble mother who comes asking for our help, smile like you always smile, always trying to walk in their shoes, and to feel what she feels,” she said to the hundreds of workers who attended the event.

Regarding this, the governor stated that her administration is different than others because it has assisted the poorest people with heart, including people with disabilities, single mothers, and elderly people. She stated that, currently, a difference is being made that is improving people’s lives.

“I feel excited of working with this great group of women, Because I know that each and every one of you is always giving more than what is strictly necessary, always doing something extra and trying to find out how you can make things happen,” she said.
