“Who’s Who: Basic Basket Prices” presented by the head of the Federal Consumer Agency (PROFECO), Ricardo Sheffield Padilla, reveals the prices of basic basket products in Mexico, with this information being updated every week. Despite months passing by, Tijuana still has the most expensive supermarkets in the northern region of the country.
According to data shared on May 9, the Walmart supermarket located in Plaza Galerías of Colonia Hipódromo, is still one of the most expensive supermarkets when it comes to the basic basket in the northern region of the country with a total price of $1,151.35 pesos. This region includes the states of Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Sonora, and Tamaulipas.
This week is just another week where Tijuana has appeared on the list of the supermarkets with the most expensive basic baskets. Sheffield claims that this information helps Mexican families to be more knowledgeable about where to buy products for their homes so that they are not affected by inflation.
