TikTok user reports officials charging fees to line cutters at San Ysidro Border Crossing

It is said that people are paying officials so they can avoid waiting in line and cross directly

Users have reported sightings of “gaviotas” (line cutters) paying money to Ready Lane San Ysidro officials so they can access it directly and avoid waiting in line so as to save time at the border crossing.

TikTok videos are circulating where the officials can be seen inspecting cars, which first line up in front of the police car so they can be checked and then continue onwards.

TikTok user @xavyharo describes it like this: “Scaring gaviotas that pay 20 dollars to corrupt officials at the Ready Lane San Ysidro line so they don’t waste 3 hours in line”. He then added ironically: “They realized they were being recorded and now they are actually doing their job for only a few minutes”.

This is how corruption is in all Tijuana, B.C. They were put there so that cars wouldn’t cut in line and they are the ones who are letting them in.

These viral images in social media have caused outrage among Tijuana native users, who have told some stories regarding their experiences at the Ready Lane San Ysidro line.

There are even some people who have been saying how these types of illegal acts have been taking place for a while, saying how corruption in our country is just “something that happens every day.”
