Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Baja Californian Governor, led the installation of the mobile offices of the “Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro” (Young People Building the Future) program, which brings Mexican youth job and learning opportunities through a monthly scholarship.

These offices were set up in the Community Center “Valle de Puebla” of DIF Baja California, located in Eastern Mexicali where the governor said that this project is one of Andres Manuel López Obrador’s, President of Mexico, noblest projects.

Marina del Pilar said that is through jobs and the building of a better future for everyone that young Mexican people will stay away from antisocial behavior, which allows for healthy coexistence and boosts national development.

“Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro has been essential to help reduce violence rates in the country and it functions as an economic recovery engine after the pandemic,” the Governor stated.

Due to this, Marina del Pilar highlighted the government of Mexico’s willingness to unite several difference agencies to work in cooperation to benefit vulnerable groups, which are the principles that are essential to the Fourth Transformation.

The governor explained that it was a little over three years ago that President López Obrador launched the program and, since then, half of the young people registered have obtained a formal job; a symptom of the program’s success.

“This is why we want to invite again all young people in Baja California who are currently not working or studying to look for training at Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro so that they can receive a scholarship, be trained, be linked in the productive sector,” she added.

In these mobile offices, the Government of Mexico and Baja California register young people interested in participating with different companies willing to receive apprentices, which generates common goals between all parties, strengthening them.

For his part, Marath Baruch Bolaños López, Subsecretary of Jobs and Labor Productivity at Mexico’s Secretariat of Work explained that Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro is a priority program and Marina del Pilar is one of its main allies.

In his message, the federal official said that young people between ages 18 and 29 can build their well-being, eliminate their lack of opportunities, and generate better synergy between companies and society so that everyone can build the development that Mexico and its people need.

He explained that the monthly scholarship is $5,258 pesos for each participant, which is equivalent to the minimum wage in the country’s center. Every person who is registered and begins as an apprentice is also automatically affiliated at the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).

For his part, government of Mexico’s delegate in Baja California, Jesús Alejandro Ruiz Uribe, highlighted the commitment Marina del Pilar has shown by supporting the social policies in the state promoted by President López Obrador, with one of its most important examples being the universal aid that is given to people with disabilities.

At the ceremony, the following people were present: Carlos Augusto Morales López, head of Peace Committees of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico, and Norma Alicia Bustamante Martínez, Municipal President of the XXIV Municipal Administration of Mexicali.

Marina del Pilar oversees progress of road node at Lázaro Cárdenas

As another important part of her schedule, the governor supervised the progress made to the road node work at Lázaro Cárdenas and Calzada de los Presidentes (Río Nuevo). This project has an investment of 203.1 million pesos and will benefit 800,000 Mexicali natives.

Together with the Secretary of Infrastructure, Urban Design, and Territorial Reordering (SIDURT), Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, the governor explained that the work has a bridge 370 meters long and two incorporation loops connecting to Calzada de los Presidentes.

It should be noted that installation of water supply lines, drainage, and new public illumination equipment was also carried out. The benefits of this road project, it was highlighted, are the decrease in traffic waiting times, a decrease in air pollution, and more safety.
