On Wednesday, April 13[b], the Governor of Baja California [b]Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced the launch of the Violet Squad project which will assist with women’s and families’ safety in the San Quintin municipality. As part of the work carried out by the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Baja California strategies will be boosted to improve security.

At this event, that took place at the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) 67th Infantry Battalion, four units were given pver to the Violet Squad in San Quintin.

Moreover, certificates were given to a group of agents that will be part of this squad who will have the responsibility of deploying protection strategies for the children, young people, and women of San Quintin.

In her speech, Marina del Pilar highlighted the commitment of the Foundational Council of San Quintin, especially its head, Jorge Alberto López Peralta for their coordination regarding security matters, since it was thanks to them that the Violet Squad came to be.

The governor also highlighted that more than half of the people working in the agricultural sector at San Quintin Valley are women, which is why the clear message here is that they have both the governor’s and the administration’s support.

She stated that, besides being field workers, these women are also heads of their families, an example for all Baja Californian society, which is why the main goal of the state administration is to create conditions so that they can improve their and their loved ones’ quality of life, with safety being essential for this.

Marina del Pilar said:

I want to tell all women and their families that they are not alone. We are here, we are working to commit ourselves to them and their families. I’m an ally and we are here to defend your rights.

For his part, López Peralta highlighted the presence of the Governor of Baja California in San Quintin, and all the support San Quintin has received from the state administration in actions that are necessary for the development of the community, especially girls and women.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Citizen Security of Baja California, General Gilberto Landeros Briseño said that eliminating gender violence is one of the priorities of his agency which is why the Violet Squad was created. This is a specialized unit composed of trained police officers to combat gender violence and they will have presence in all seven Baja Californian municipalities.

At this launch, the following people were present: State Violet Squad Coordinator, Lorena Guerrero Rodríguez; INMUJERBC Director, Karla Pedrín Rembao; 67th Infantry Battalion Commander, José León, as well as special guests.

Marina del Pilar carries out Wednesday morning press conference in San Quintin

As part of her Wednesday schedule in San Quintin, the governor carried out the twentieth edition of ”Wednesday Morning Press Conference with Marina del Pilar” at the 67th Infantry Battalion where she spoke about key future topics about the municipality.

Marina del Pilar remembered that her first campaign act as Governor of Baja California took place there and highlighted that it is a Fourth Transformation community that the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador has a special appreciation for.

She revealed specific actions to bolster the countryside of San Quintin such as the harvesting of strawberries, red tomatoes, raspberries, blueberries, and cucumbers. To this, she has allocated an investment above $77 million pesos.

She also revealed the progress made regarding touristic matters such as exploring areas that have been ignored for a long time that can bring direct benefits to people.

Marina del Pilar also spoke about the importance of the Fishing Contribution Committee that has been set up recently and will have positive direct consequences to benefit those who are fishers.

At the morning press conference, the following people were present: Alejandro Arregui Ibarra, Secretary of Work; Alma Rosa García Juárez, Secretary of Fishing and Aquaculture; Miriam Cano Núñez, Secretary of Gender Inclusion and Equality, and Juan Meléndez Espinoza, Secretary of the Countryside of Baja California.
