The government of Baja California, in cooperation with the Secretariat of Education began the English National Program (PRONI) in order to bring better educational quality to more than 4,000 children studying basic education in the region so that they can master this foreign language.

The PRONI plans and programs allow students to participate in language social practices orally and in written form, so that they can communicate and interact with native and non-native English speakers.

The program promotes a variety of individual and collective experiences between students, which help the students apply them to everyday life situations and interactions. In this year, 4,589 children from 16 elementary schools and 2 kindergartens will be assisted through 13 external specialized advisers and 8 teachers.

The curriculum is divided in cycles: the first cycle is directed at kids that are in 3rd grade of kindergarten and 1st and 2nd grade of elementary school; the second is for kids in 3rd and 4th grade of elementary; the third cycle is for kids in 5th and 6th grade of elementary; and finally, the fourth cycle is for students in the 3 grades of secondary school.

Through this program, the mastering of the English language is bolstered in students so that they are able to communicate to approach different cultures. This also favors their mobility by giving them future opportunities in better paying jobs.
