Arrangements made by the Government of Baja California, led by Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, were key to modify the vehicle regularization decree that was issued one month ago by the federal government. Now, the process is guaranteed to be easier, costing 2,500 pesos to help people. Regarding this, it should be noted how the logistics of this change were made at the end, i.e., it is something that is being applied because it is part of a socially led public policy.
Marco Moreno Mexia, Secretary of the Treasury of Baja California, stated that the arrangements made and talks held with the federal government led to the process being much more practical, easier, and affordable, for the regularization cost for all citizens will be 2,500 pesos.
“It is a much more compact, online process of import that makes it all easier. It eliminates customs officers and certifies vehicles by registering them in the Vehicular Public Registry (REPUVE),” said Moreno Mexia.
He explained that, originally a six-step process that costed over 7,000 pesos, the price has now been set at 2,500 pesos.
The state official said that citizens will be able to pay online, or by phone, the appointment that will make it possible for them to regularize their vehicle. This will be carried out through an app that the federal government will launch soon.
He pointed out that once that the online fast import registration is done, the vehicle will also need to be registered in the Vehicular Public Registry (REPUVE) so that they can comply with all security protocols and, subsequently, receive their local license plates.
The Secretary of the Treasury stated that, thanks to these conveniences granted by the state and federal government, a registration of more than 500,000 units is expected.
