Marina del Pilar underscores armed forces involvement in Baja California

MEXICALI.- Baja California Governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, emphasized the hard work of the state’s armed forces, highlighting their progress in their fight against crime and their priority in safeguarding citizens. All of this occurred on the National Army Day celebration in February 19.

The Governor explained the commitment that the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), through the Army and the National Guard, demonstrates every day by protecting strategic facilities, by their work, and by their safeguarding of customs and ports of entry. These tasks also include protecting construction projects such as the Airport-Playas de Tijuana second floor, and the assistance and help they bring in case of high scale incidents.

Accompanied by Second Military Zone Commander, General Saúl Luna Jaimes and 11 Military Region Commander, Division General Víctor Hugo Aguirre Serna, the Governor spoke to the soldiers, congratulating them on their day as well as approving of the constant collaboration between the Baja California government and SEDENA itself.

“In Baja California, we love and respect the Mexican Army because it is republican, federal, and a guardian of democracy. We love it and respect it because it is people looking after people. Because they are our older siblings, because they are with us without any conditions, because they are a bastion of example, discipline, and commitment with the nation,” stated Marina del Pilar.

Accordingly, the Governor signed a collaboration agreement with SEDENA that will bring care to those in the army who end up with a disability or die in the line of duty, as well as provide healthcare to their relatives, as an act of coordination between the State and the Army.

“Coordinated and timely work with the Army is a commitment that is always constant. We can often see it in their collective effort, reciprocal collaboration, and institutional solidarity, which deserves our recognition and respect”, the Governor said.
