In Tijuana, the government of Marina del Pilar will continue to build an elevated viaduct.

A total of 10 million pesos will be invested in the project.

State and federal officials gathered in Tijuana to supervise the development of the Elevated Viaduct, a project that State Governor Marina del Pilar vila Olmeda and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador have designated as strategic.

According to Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Urban Development and Territorial Reorganization (SIDURT), the executive project for carrying out the work already exists, and work will soon begin in coordination with the Presidency of the Republic and the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT).

The project will cost 10 million pesos and consist of a 9.2-kilometer free elevated segment connecting the Matadero Canyon to the Tijuana Airport, closing a peripheral circuit that will allow for agile vehicular flow and safe travel.

The Secretary of State for Infrastructure emphasized that the project will improve mobility not just in Tijuana but across the metropolitan area, as well as reduce transit times, reduce traffic highways, decrease pollution, and increase tourism throughout the region.

Marco Antonio Carreno Arango, the Presidency of the Republic's Operational Technical Director; Miriam Hilario Clemente, from the SCT's General Directorate of Highways; Jess Armando Carrasco Garcia and José Francisco Velázquez Lugo, from the SCT's Baja California Center; and representatives from private contractors also attended the meeting.

Finally, the federal government agreed to invite more people to future sessions to contribute to the project.
