This Friday, November 12, the 'Sea of Cortés Forum' was held in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, with the participation of the governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar, who highlighted the importance of the role of governments in the development of the Sea of Cortés, using strategies that protect the environment and strengthen the economic development of the neighboring communities.

Also participating in the forum were the governors of Baja California Sur, Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, and of Nayarit, Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero, who together with Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda participated in the panel "Governance of the Sea of Cortés".

As part of the question and answer session, the Governor of the State highlighted that renewable energies are a key issue for border entities, for which she expressed her commitment to adhere to the criteria of the Government of Mexico in this regard in order to promote them in the different productive sectors, always seeking to respect environmental standards.

"The proximity to other world powers forces us to work in a particular way in terms of renewable energies. We are working on a plan that will allow us to adhere to the environmental system, since renewable energies are part of an international agenda," Marina del Pilar said at the panel.

She also pointed out that the Pacific governors have already met to analyze the importance of the development of the Sea of Cortés, including the Governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo Montaño, since they share the social ideals of the Fourth Transformation.

Finally, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda highlighted the importance of the fishing issue, which includes the analysis of the fishing polygons, the protection of the ecosystem, as well as the interaction that the different productive activities will have with the cruise ship that could sail through the Mexican Pacific to tour the different points of the Sea of Cortés.
