The Teal Pumpkin Project of Food Allergy Research & Education seeks to raise awareness about food allergies in people, so it invites families to have a separate bowl with toys or other options so that everyone can enjoy Halloween night without having to worry about the possible ingredients that some treats may contain and affect children with allergies.

Through their website families can register for families to check and identify which homes have safe options for children with allergies, intolerances or other conditions.

You might ask, how do I recognize a home that is part of the Teal Pumpkin Project. It's quite simple, as the name implies, homes that in addition to candy have toys or items that are safe for children with different conditions, will have a turquoise pumpkin outside their home.

Currently there are about 35 homes in San Diego that are registered as part of the Teal Pumpkin Project, however you can find them in different locations. If you would like to know their locations or register so they can identify your home as safe for children with allergies or other conditions click here. .
