With the arrival of more first doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Baja California and after the announcement of the reopening of the border for non-essential crossings, the State Health Department announced that it will monitor that people, mainly from the educational sector, vaccinated with the Cansino biologic do not attempt to apply other doses authorized by the United States in order to cross into the neighboring country.

The head of the agency, Alonso Pérez Rico, reminded that the Cansino vaccines are effective to prevent a serious case against COVID-19, however, up to now, the U.S. still does not authorize the entry to the United States to people who have been immunized with this biological and warned that in Mexico it is still not allowed to mix the vaccines, so they should be vigilant.

Previously, Dr. Pérez Rico detailed that the vaccine against the lethal virus is to save lives, not to be able to cross to make purchases in the United States, so he urged citizens who have not received any dose to go for the ones arriving to Baja California, and those already vaccinated not to go to the vaccination centers and take a first dose vaccine.

So far the vaccines that have been authorized in the United States are Pfizer, Johnsson, AstraZeneca, Modernas or Sinovac, so these would be the ones allowed to cross to the "other side".
