The U.S. National Hurricane Center and CONAGUA are monitoring tropical storm Pamela, which is advancing along the Mexican Pacific Ocean.

According to the weather forecast, the hurricane is approximately 435 kilometers southwest of Jalisco and 750 kilometers from the Baja California peninsula, so authorities in those states are on alert.

Meanwhile, Colima, Michoacan, Nayarit and Jalisco are also taking precautions due to the arrival of heavy rains and winds with gusts of up to 43 mph (70 km/h) and waves of 6.5 feet (2 meters) on the coasts.

Civil Protection warned that the rains could cause landslides and flooding in low-lying areas. During the course of today, Monday, Pamela is expected to intensify its activity and become a hurricane, reaching Sinaloa on Wednesday night.

In Baja California Sur, although the risk is lower, particularly in Cabo San Lucas, authorities recommend taking precautions in navigation especially to the affected states. Some rains will reach the state as a remnant of the category two hurricane.
