Women's and men's soccer qualifiers are being held

With the objective of promoting sports culture throughout Mexico, the Tijuana City Hall, through the Municipal Sports Institute (IMDET), carried out the series of elimination matches in the soccer category that corresponds to the "National Popular Games 2021" tournament that seeks to promote the sport.

These events seek to bring the best children's and youth soccer players in the country together, to give them the opportunity to excel in this sporting discipline at the national level.

"Our main objective is to contribute to citizens having the opportunity to be part of the community through sports practice, always putting welfare first, to provide options for young athletes to meet their goals," said Maria Antonieta Gómez Gómez, director of IMDET.

Activities began at 9:00 a.m. at the Unidad Deportiva Tijuana, where there was activity in White Flag with the 2007 to 2009 category and 6x6 in the 2005 to 2006 and 2003 to 2004 categories, all in the women's and men's divisions with 10 participants per squad, with a coach and an assistant.

The winners in White Flag were Cedefut's players after defeating Colonia Obrera, thus obtaining their pass to the national competition to be held in Acapulco, Guerrero in September. The men's team that won the tournament was Bestia Negra after defeating Molotof; they will compete for their pass to the National Games against the team from Mexicali.

On the other hand, in the 6X6 discipline, the winners in the 2005 to 2006 category were also the Cedefut players and in the 2003 to 2004 category it was Juventus, beating the Linces teams and with these results they qualified for the state tournament to be held in Tecate. For the boys, Espartanos and Latinos managed to advance to the Baja California tournament after defeating Deportivo Arboledas and Colonia Obrera, respectively.
