Border reopening with the U.S. will not happen soon: Marcelo Ebrard

In a press conference, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard informed that there are no plans to reopen the border with the U.S. soon

Border restrictions are about to reach a year and a half, however, despite the fact that for many, mostly border residents, this time has seemed like an eternity, it seems that these restrictions will not be lifted soon.

This was informed by Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard during a press conference this Wednesday morning where he explained that the reason for this is the increase in cases of coronavirus on both sides of the border.

The above according to what he shared during a visit to Mexico by Alejandro Mayorkas, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security, who argued that conditions are not ideal for a reopening.

However, for those who have lost hope, Secretary Mayorkas also affirmed that there is no doubt that the border will reopen at some point, the only thing they are waiting for is for the number of cases to decrease.

So far the only thing that is known about the reopening is that it is planned to be staggered, starting with the types of visas.
