The waste problem in the city of Tijuana has been unresolved for many administrations, which has caused the emergence of several illegal garbage dumps. However, the administration headed by Mayor Karla Ruiz is taking an important step to put an end to this problem.
This Tuesday, the mayor delivered cargo vehicles to the Municipal Public Services Department. With the objective of improving the cleaning process in the city. Ruiz Macfarland posted on her Facebook account: "I trust that this new equipment will bring us closer to the social welfare that our city deserves".
In addition to this, the current administration has taken actions to create a cleaner city, to generate a Tijuana with more ecological awareness, since the pruning or tree cutting is becoming a danger to citizens by reducing green areas.
For this reason they have been working on the reforestation of important areas such as Morelos Park or Amistad Park, where they have been planting and replanting trees and plants since February. Likewise, there will be significant fines for those who cut trees:
"The moment people know that cutting a tree will cost them between 10 thousand and 40 thousand pesos, depending on the size, and that, in addition they must buy the equivalent in plants to replace the removal, they will abandon their intention", warned the City Council through a statement.
These actions will contribute to improve the perception of the city, as it will look cleaner, with greener spaces and could be more attractive, not only for citizens, but for the tourism sector that is rising economically, after being affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
