Baja Beach Fest in Rosarito is coming, an event that will bring together reggaeton and Latin music artists of international stature, during two weekends.
Starting August 13th, reggaeton fans will be able to see singers such as Karol G, Ozuna, J Balvin, Farruko, Guaynaa, Becky G, Rauw Alejandro, Mike Towers, DJ Luian and more. The stage is already being set up, so the head of the Baja California Health Secretariat, Alonso Pérez Rico, was questioned about the compliance with the safety and health protocols for COVID-19 established by this agency.
Pérez Rico mentioned that the event does have the letter of No Inconvenience provided by the Secretariat in charge, and that in addition, negative tests will not be accepted for access, but only a vaccination certificate.
Taking into account the active cases in Rosarito (25) and that it is the municipality where the virus is currently reproducing the most, having an Effective Reproduction Rate (ER) of 1.59, he responded that this event could cause a rebound of cases.
"In fact, a gathering of 100 people can cause a coronavirus outbreak or a chain of transmission," he added. However, he maintained that like any mass event it is subject to cancellation or a decrease in capacity.
Finally, he pointed out that not only the public should be vaccinated, but also those "who are at the concert: waiters, security, promoters, staff; everyone". This is so that the chains of transmission are low and in case someone has a mild level of COVID, they remain so and do not advance to a moderate or severe disease.
