Tijuana citizens invited to get vaccinated against measles and rubella

Different age groups can be vaccinated

The Municipal Health Department (DMS) invites Tijuana's parents to vaccinate their children against measles and rubella, in order to reinforce the infants' basic vaccination schedule. Adolescents and adults can also be immunized.

The campaign, which started at the beginning of July, will end on August 16. In this campaign, children from 0 months to 10 years old can be vaccinated, it is mandatory to present the vaccination card of the minors. But, in addition, children and young people from 10 to 20 years old and adults from 35 to 40 years old will be able to benefit.

According to the medical services report, the inoculation of the double viral (SR) represents a booster in the scheme, and is applied independently of the triple viral (measles, mumps and rubella), which is administered at 12 months and six years of age.

The DMS emphasizes that the double vaccine can cause pain, heat and redness at the site of application, which can last up to three days, and does not require medical treatment, since all the symptoms are transitory. Likewise, he emphasizes that rubella is not the same disease as measles, but they share some symptoms, such as the red rash.

Therefore, the municipal health authority invites the population to go to the nearest Health Center or the DMS, every Monday from 8:30 to 1:30 in the afternoon, to apply the corresponding dose.
