AMLO classifies the reopening of the Mexico-U.S. border as "necessary"

Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard to speak with Governor of California, said Andrés Manuel

Baja California will be the first state in Mexico to achieve herd immunity thanks to the donation made by the United States to vaccinate more than one million 200 thousand Mexicans residing in this part of the country.

This is necessary for the long awaited reopening of the U.S.-Mexico border to be possible. This is something that Mexican residents with tourist visas have been waiting for since the restriction was established as a measure to control COVID-19.

Even, the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, stated that it was necessary to open the border "as soon as possible", so he has given the mission to the Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón, to formalize a dialogue with the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom.

The president shared this during the inauguration of the National Guard barracks in Tecate. He assured that this is the moment to ask the United States to reopen the border and thanked U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the donation of the Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

According to reports, if conditions on both borders allow it and there is no increase in coronavirus cases in both regions, the border could be open by the end of July of this year. Do you think everything will go as expected?
