The relatives of those who died in the tragedy of the collapse of Line 12 of the Mexico City subway will receive only 40 thousand pesos in compensation; the people who were injured will only get 10 thousand pesos as payment for damages.

Mexican politician and economist, Mario Alberto di Constanzo, shared on his Twitter account that according to Article 1915 of the Mexico City Civil Code it is established by law that the amount at least should be 5 million pesos.

!When the damage is caused to persons and results in death, permanent total, permanent partial, temporary total or temporary partial disability, the amount of compensation will be determined in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Labor Law. In order to calculate the corresponding indemnity, four times the highest daily minimum wage in force in the Federal District will be taken as a base and will be extended to the number of days that, for each of the mentioned disabilities, the Federal Labor Law establishes. In the event of death, the indemnity will correspond to the heirs of the victim”.

For its part, the government of Mexico City informed that this news, which was also replicated by the newspaper El Reforma, is true, however, it is an initial support and is not definitive; that is to say, more money will be given. The amount will reach 650 thousand pesos and part of the compensation will be covered by the insurance policy contracted by the Metro Collective Transportation System.

"We will not leave them on their own, we will not leave them helpless, they will be given all the support they need," said Claudia Sheinbaum through her videoconference.

Users on social networks have spoken out against the head of government of Mexico City, as her monthly income amounts to 111 thousand 178 pesos for her position. So far, 26 people have died in the tragedy and 33 others are hospitalized, 12 of them seriously, 20 are in delicate condition and one is in stable condition.
