According to the head of the Baja California Secretariat of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, the federal government will leave the state under the orange traffic light, however state authorities confirm that the entity will continue in red.
"We have not changed, we are not in the right conditions, why? Because right now is the peak of infections in California", said Pérez Rico. According to the doctor, in the last 24 hours, 16 thousand 696 new cases and 737 deaths due to coronavirus were reported in that location in the United States; while Baja California registered 281 new cases and 24 deaths.
On the other hand, the number of active cases in this state of Mexico continues to rise, totaling one thousand 395 so far, 612 of them located in Tijuana, 408 in Mexicali, 196 in Ensenada, 74 in San Quintin, 45 in Rosarito, 30 in San Felipe and 30 in Tecate.
Thus, the accumulated positive cases in the region now total 40,704, with Mexicali remaining as the municipality with the most registered cases after totaling 15,800, followed by Tijuana with 14,585, Ensenada with 5,982, San Quintin with 1,655, Tecate with 1,286, Rosarito with 871 and San Felipe with 525.
Regarding Baja Californians who have died from COVID-19, there are 6 thousand 634, 2 thousand 949 were in Tijuana, 2 thousand 530 in Mexicali, 887 in Ensenada, 169 in Tecate, 72 in San Quintin, 22 in Rosarito and five in San Felipe.
In the case of hospital occupancy, it remains low at 51%, in addition to having 475 beds available in the state and 174 ventilators. "Please do not conglomerate," asked the head of the agency, since this not only brings more infections but more hospitalizations and therefore more people intubated, and more deaths.
