After December 31, active cases increased to almost one thousand 100 in Baja California

Due to this, Tijuana is ranked 17th and Mexicali 20th in the national top of municipalities with most active cases

Tijuana and Mexicali continue in the national top of municipalities with more active COVID-19 cases, going from 18th to 17th and from 21st to 20th respectively.

This is because two weeks after the New Year's celebrations on December 31st, the number of active cases in Baja California increased to one thousand and 93, according to Health Secretary Alonso Pérez Rico. Of this total, Tijuana has 443, Mexicali 371, Ensenada 168, San Quintín 41, Rosarito 25, San Felipe 23 and Tecate 22.

"Why are the largest municipalities in our state increasing, very simple [on] January 14 we are paying exactly what we did two weeks ago, and that scenario is the agglomerations of December 31," said the head of this agency.

He also added that in the last 24 hours 42 deaths were registered on his platform: 21 in Tijuana, seven in Mexicali, seven in San Quintín and six in Ensenada. As well as 239 new COVID-19 cases in the state, 114 in the border city, 64 in Mexicali, 24 in the port of Ensenada, 22 in San Quintín, 10 in Rosarito and five in Tecate.

With this, the entity has accumulated 36 thousand 549 positive cases:

  • Mexicali: 14,750
  • Tijuana: 12,682
  • Ensenada: 5,317
  • San Quintín: 1,406
  • Tecate: 1,198
  • Rosarito: 737
  • San Felipe: 457

Meanwhile, the number of Baja Californians who have unfortunately lost their lives due to coronavirus is 6 thousand and 64:

  • Tijuana: 2,672
  • Mexicali: 2,357
  • Ensenada: 778
  • Tecate: 157
  • San Quintín: 74
  • Rosarito: 21
  • [
  • San Felipe: 5

So far the cases that still remain as suspects are one thousand 520.
