After many months of waiting and right under the red light with an unsustainable crisis in hospitals, the COVID-19 vaccine has arrived in Mexico. The antidote from Pfizer and BioNTech means between 15 to 24 million doses for the country.

Before its application in human beings, authorization will be required from health entities at an international level, which in the case of Mexico is the Federal Commission for the Protection of Sanitary Risks (Cofepris).

However, the only problem is that the Pfizer vaccine requires being frozen at 70 degrees below zero and can only be thawed for 5 days before being applied, which represents a challenge since Mexico would need a deep-freezing system throughout the territory; this implies a strong investment of resources for logistics to work properly.

On the other hand, the Chinese vaccine Cansino has already arrived and it is in the stage of clinical trials. In the case of AztraZeneca's antidote, the pharmaceutical company indicated it would be ready by March 2021.

Let´s recall that the first sectors to be vaccinated in the country are health workers and adults over 60 years old, this during the end of December and until March.

According to the vaccination plan, the antidote will be available for all ages between June and September of the following year.
