According to Cervantes, the behavior of these famous winds is currently being monitored and will be more intense ]during the early morning hours of Thursday, December 3. However, this phenomenon is already being observed in Tecate and La Rumorosa.

The Coordinator of Civil Protection said that by 2:00 p.m. on Thursday the winds could be decreasing, but it is expected that they will remain until Saturday, and although by Sunday "we will no longer have such an imposing condition", information will continue to be provided.

For its part, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) of the National Water Commission (Conagua), forecasted winds of between 50 and 55 miles per hour and dust storms for Baja California, something that was also pointed out by this state's Civil Protection. Meanwhile, for the mountainous areas of the state, minimum temperatures of between 23 and 32 degrees Fahrenheit are predicted.

Given the condition of Santa Ana winds, Salvador Cervantes reminded the Baja Californians to reinforce roofs of houses if necessary and move objects that may fall.

"Remember that these winds can throw tree branches, cables, signs that are not properly placed, so we must take preventive actions. On the side of forest fires too, so it is important not to use fire for land clearing or garbage removal," he said.
