William Shakespeare seemed to have it very clear: "The whole world is a stage, and all the men and women are merely actors. They have their exits and their entrances and in his lifetime a man will play many parts”.
The phrase, created more than four centuries ago by the Swan of Avon and reproduced in the song The Spirit of the Radio by the Canadian band Rush, now takes on a new meaning in the new work of don Miguel Ruiz, where we are all actors of a great stage called life.
The Actor. How to achieve authenticity is the new book by Miguel Ruiz Macias and the first in a series called The School of the Mysteries. It was published on November 3rd in both English and Spanish. In the Spanish speaking world the book is published by Urano Publishing House.

In an interview with San Diego Red from his home in Chula Vista, California, Miguel Ruiz talked greatly about the meaning of this new work, published simultaneously in the United States, Latin America and Spain.
Relaxed and very happy to be able to offer the world this new hundred pages, don Miguel revealed the keys of his new work, which can be read as a theater lecture.
Like a teacher looking into a student's eyes at the beginning of a class, Ruiz talks straight to the reader and prepares him to play a great role in the play of his life. A role that can be changed or reinterpreted at will.
The master class will be divided into five modules:
1-The artist
2- The language
3- Performance
4- The stage
5- The final curtain
"Welcome to the Mystery School where you will be a student and a teacher and will share your wisdom with others," reads the first page of the book.
As if he were the dean of a university campus receiving new trainees, Miguel Ruiz welcomes readers to this mysterious school that we will call Earth. Learning begins at conception itself and in theory ends when the curtain comes down and corporeal life ends.
The fascinating thing about this life, says don Miguel, is that at every moment we are revealing mysteries, but the best thing is that for every mystery revealed, other mysteries, new questions, new enigmas arise.
"We are always revealing mysteries. Some we don't solve, but over others we make suppositions, we create superstitions. You are acting all the time. You believe the roles you play and you believe the roles others play," says don Miguel.
"We are actors on this great stage called life. We live in the world of artists, in the School of Mystery. For every mystery that is revealed to us, more questions and more mysteries come," he adds.
The human mind is like a field that is going to be fertile for certain concepts and infertile for others. There are books, works of art, metaphors that make us think and reflect the things that want to come out. But there are also seeds of discrimination, of hate, of rejection. This makes us become fanatical, defending something that we don't even understand and manifesting itself in destructive ideas.
Many of the problems of today's world have to do with fanatical and intolerant people who entrench themselves in their own shells and wrap themselves in creeds and flags that they make their own without even understanding them.
That is why for don Miguel it is key to respect other actors, to be part of a team for a while. Then each actor takes his or her own path. You must be aware that you will always be the main actor in your maze and your performance can vary a lot.
"Since we were kids we learned how to recite a script, and we played a role for each stage: a role for the house, another for the street, but at the end it is up to us to change that role and even improvise. We can modify our acts accordingly and open a multitude of options," says Don Miguel.
Of course, one of the biggest dilemmas for the actor is the critic, and the critic is everywhere. It is impossible to pretend that he doesn't exist.
"The main critic is going to be you, but also your family, the people close to you. Those who celebrate or censor what you do. We become addicted to that celebration," he says.
After what the overwhelming success of The Four Agreements meant in his life, a book that two and a half decades after its publication is still a world best seller, don Miguel Ruiz has continued to work tirelessly. Books such as The Fifth Agreement, The Toltec Art of Life and Death, The Voice of Knowledge, Beyond Fear and The Three Questions have been read and translated all over the world.
Raised in the streets of Tijuana during his childhood and adolescence, don Miguel Ruiz graduated as a doctor from the UNAM. He was a musician and soccer player and for more than three decades has been a world reference when it comes to spiritualism or neo-shamanism.
After miraculously surviving a massive heart attack and following a heart transplant, Ruiz Macías has continued to teach seminars and lead retreats with his children.
As in past volumes, Miguel Ruiz wrote his new book in collaboration with Barbara Emrys. The intention of the Mystery School series is to surprise with a new book every six months. They are not very long books, just a few hundred pages that can be read very quickly.
A second part of the series, which will reach readers in the spring of 2021, will be The Myth and a third could be Eros.
