On October 5, it was announced through President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's daily morning conference that a construction site will be built in Baja California as part of a series of infrastructure projects that aim to reactivate the economy.

Of course we are talking about the new Garita of Otay, which is also the only project, of the 39 that were announced, located in the region.

What we already know is that its construction will begin in December 2021 and that it will have an investment of 2 thousand 800 million pesos. Such investment will be with public and private participation. On the other hand, according to Fox 5 news network, the United States government will invest $850 million dollars and in order to justify this investment, a toll will be charged.

The cost is not yet specified, but the collection is expected to begin by the end of 2024, according to Borderreport. So, who will get the profits from this agreement? Both the Mexican and U.S. governments will invest, so the total of the crossing fees will be divided between the two governments.

This new entry booth, known in California as State Route 11 or Otay II, is intended to reduce the waiting time that has had such an impact on San Diego's economy. In addition, it will facilitate the day-to-day life of citizens who lead an active border life.

And what do you think? How much would you pay to avoid long lines? Leave us your comments.
