CBP stops methamphetamine smuggling in Calexico

El Centro agents seized 33 pounds of methamphetamine

This weekend, Border Patrol agents seized three smuggling attempts on different days.

The first was on Saturday at 4:45 p.m. on Highway 86 aboard a white Infinity crossover. They discovered 31 packages of methamphetamine hidden, the subject was arrested and processed. It was estimated to be 32.54 pounds with an estimated value of $73,215.

The second was recorded on Sunday at 6:30 a.m. in Calexico while an agent patrolled the area. The packages were found near Dool Avenue and First Street. They were estimated to be 1.16 pounds with an estimated value of $2,610.

The third was the same Sunday at 11:32 p.m. at the Calexico Station. A package containing methamphetamine was found weighing 1.15 pounds with an estimated value of $2,587.50.

All of the above was delivered to the Drug Enforcement Agency.

"The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security responsible for the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between official ports of entry," adds CBP.
