Baja California starts the week with 13 thousand and 51 COVID-19 infections, staying in red light on the epidemiological traffic light chart, informed Head of the Department of Health Alonso Perez Rico, during the update of these cases.
Of this number of cases, the majority correspond to Mexicali with 6 thousand 769 (20 new cases), followed by Tijuana with 3 thousand 865 (52), Ensenada with one thousand 426 (37), Tecate with 316 (8), San Quintin with 298 (6), San Felipe with 211 and Rosarito with 166.
As you can see, this Monday, July 27th, Tijuana was the county that registered more new cases of coronavirus with 52 registered, followed by Ensenada and then Mexicali where most of the active cases are located which add 613 up to date between the three counties. These make up the top 3 counties with the most affected areas.
In view of this, the Head of the Department of Health urges Tijuana, Ensenada and Mexicali residents to reduce their mobility, arguing that this is not the time to do non-essential activities.
The health expert mentioned that he has gone to visit some of the swap meets and noted that some visitors are not wearing masks. He emphasized that until the end of this pandemic, there is a need for "co-responsibility; if you don't bring masks, as a swap meet vendor of the overcrowded area, I can't sell anything to you," suggested the Head of the Department of Health to the merchants in these areas.
In addition, Perez Rico reported that 2 thousand 538 Baja California natives have unfortunately passed because of the virus, found in the state as follows: Mexicali 197 (4), Tijuana one thousand and 70 (6), Ensenada 173, Tecate 73, Rosarito 14, San Quintin 10 and San Felipe 1.
In spite of this context, the good news is that 6 thousand 875 patients have already recovered from COVID-19, of which only 4 thousand 115 are from Mexicali.
