WhatsApp will no longer be available for old iPhones

You will have until february 2020 to still receive support from Whatsapp

Technology should always move forward, so that, inevitably, some devices must be abandoned. Generally, the most affected used to be old Android smartphones, but very soon the guillotine will slice some iPhones too.

Recently, WhatsApp updated its support page, in which it confirmed that to use WhatsApp in an optimal way you need to have iOS 9 or higher operating system. If you have an iPhone and stayed on iOS 8, from now on you will no longer be able to register new accounts or re-verify previous accounts. However, you will still have a slight grace period, as the service will continue to work on your device until February 1, 2020.

"For a better experience, we recommend that you use the most up-to-date version of iOS for your iPhone", said WhatsApp on its support site.

And specifically, which devices will receive support? The iPhone 4S is the last equipment of the IOS family that is saved, although by little. That means that if you have an iPhone 4 or earlier, you better get a new cell phone if you don't want to run out of WhatsApp.

Because WhatsApp performs constant updates and adds new features, it is natural for older devices to run out of support. After all, newer functions need a lot of processing power, which older cell phones don't have.
