The year 2016 is about to end and it has definitely been another year in which Baja California shines thanks to its cuisine, craft beer, its wine and its various tourist activities. As every year, Sandiegored.com editorial team has taken on the task of honoring who deserves it with our traditional Best Of Baja awards, where we highlight the best that our state has to offer in several fields.

This was not an easy task, since there are more and more entrepreneurs who excel in their field, but after months of being all over Baja California, we have managed to form this select list with the highlights of this year. Over the next few weeks we will be sharing each category on our social networks, so remember to vote for your favorites.

Here are the nominees of the region in each category:

Tasting Room

We have been awarding the best beer, or the best brewery for years, but the industry has evolved so much that we will now reward those who best give the experience of enjoying these wonderful drinks in Baja California in some locations:

The "food trucks" movement started (in large part) with the evolution of culinary arts in the state. Later this year, interesting proposals came out, while other oldies but goodies still give much to talk about, others, like last year's winner: Wok Trok, no longer survived the year and the dollar hike ... RIP:

Asian Food

We are very accustomed to sushi and Chinese food of Baja California, but we have seen an emergence of other types of food from the world's largest continent, from Turkish to Vietnamese, which is worth highlighting in a new category this year:

New Urban Projects

What is this? Well, we wanted to highlight projects like the Tonalá Cinema and the Federal Station, but we did not have a culinary category for them, so here it is. We will choose them at our discretion and that of other collaborators. We will announce our decision in the last week of the month.

Beer Fest

As we mentioned in the tasting rooms category, the brewing industry goes beyond just the color or flavor of what we drink. It also includes an entire festival industry that has driven local consumption and tourism in Baja California. These are the ones who have done the job better this year:

Concert

This is a category that we had not seen until the second half of the year, with the arrival of high quality concerts, both by its world-renowned groups and by the armed spectacle, the option of best concert of the year was neccesary.
