CHULA VISTA.- Southwestern Community College, in Chula Vista, California, will be hosting a two-day festival to celebrate the traditional Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead.
The "2nd Annual Dia de los Muertos Festival" is a free event aimed at helping the community learn about and partake in this important Mexican tradition.
Starting at 9:00 a.m., October 28th and 29th, visitors will be able to enjoy traditional craft-work, more than fifty booths, an alter contest, see dozens of people competing for the best Day of the Dead costumes, known as Catrín and Catrina. On both days, the event will end at 6:00 p.m.
Organizers are still accepting inscriptions for booths, vendors, community agencies, volunteers, and participants for the altar contest and the costume contest.
