The ninth edition of Guía México Gastronómico (Gastronomic Mexican Guide), which took place at the port of Acapulco, Guerrero, where they awarded the 250 best restaurants of Mexico, has given the state of Baja California a good taste.
The guide made by Culinaria Mexicana delivered these awards whose goal is to recognize the best of the restaurant industry. The first award given was for restaurant El Porvenir, located in Tampico, Tamaulipas, who has been open for 100 years.
However, the big winner of the night was Baja Californian Javier Plascencia, who won the award of the Best Chef of the Year, due to his great work in La Baja.
Chef Plascencia thanked, on social media, all of his colleagues in the gastronomic industry, stating that he feels honored and very grateful with his team, collaborators, partners, and clients, but, above all, he thanked his family for the support they have given him in the last 35 years of his gastronomic career.
Javier Plascencia is perhaps the most important name in the gastronomic industry of Baja California and one of the most important chefs in Mexico of the last few years. In his career, he has distinguished himself as a pioneer and example of Baja-Med gastronomy, which has resulted in Baja California becoming one of the most relevant gastronomic touristic areas.
Among the restaurants headed by Javier Plascencia, the following were awarded: Jazamango, Finca Altozano, restaurant Animalón, and under the Casa Plascencia name Caesar´s restaurant was also recognized.
