More and more cases are being reported of people who are not on the first front dealing directly with COVID-19, and yet are being vaccinated, leaving other health workers unprotected who risk their lives and are ignored.

The case of Dr. Ana Paola de Cosío Farías, pediatrician and endocrinologist assigned to the Covid area of the Hospital de Pediatría Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI in Mexico City, stands out. She denounced through a video in social media the inequality that prevails in this IMSS institution. The specialist decided to resign from her position after the COVID-19 vaccines began to be applied to employees of the administrative area.

"Now it turns out that we do not appear in the vaccination lists when there are administrative personnel who are receiving the vaccine, arguing that they are in charge of Covid teams but they never get in and are never exposed. There have also been services that have received the vaccine when they are not on the front line".

De Cosío assures that she was reassigned to the respiratory area when there are already vaccinated personnel who could be considered for these tasks.

"When I requested that someone who has already been vaccinated be considered, I was threatened that I would be accused of abandoning my job. I decided to resign because of the inequality, the laziness of the authorities, the lack of vaccination for those of us who are on the front line, and the authorities do have the vaccine and are the ones who send us to be exposed".

It should be noted that due to the lack of personnel many medical specialists are being required in Covid areas even though it is not their specialty. Recently Dr. Ana Paola De Cosío was present at the protest that the National Union of Health Workers of Mexico held at the Hospital La Raza of the IMSS.
