During the last edition of the national competition of craft beer, Cerveza México, breweries from Baja California once again achieved the highest number of medals and won the whole thing!
Among the award-winning Baja Californian breweries, Wendlandt Brewery was the big winner to obtain the highest score derived from the number of medals obtained during the beer competition. In this edition, Wendlandt won three gold medals; in the category Blonde Ale with its "Veraniega"; in the American IPA style with its "Perro del Mar" and gold in High Level of Alcohol with "Super Harry", and a silver medal in the category of American Stout.
The 2019 edition had a tight end, since the score table gave a technical tie between Cervecería Wendlandt and the brewery from Mexicali, Fauna, so according to rules of the contest, it was determined to grant the first place to the beer company with the greater number of gold medals. This is the second time that Cervecería Wendlandt achieved the recognition of “Best Brewery of Mexico”, since 2015 when it also won the contest Cerveza México.
Eugenio Romero, founder of Wendlandt, thanked his team and everyone that supports the brand, arguing that it is thanks to the regional consumption that beer quality improves and reach more points of sale. With this recognition, the brewery from Ensenada strengthens its position in the competitive beer world thanks to the level of quality maintained in each of its styles, being one of the breweries with greater production.
Thanks to this recognition “Best Brewery in Mexico”, the state of Baja California remains as one of the best regions of craft beer. The trophy was passed from Mexicali to the port Ensenada, since Fauna had won this recognition the last two years.
Another of the winners of Cerveza México was Lúdica Artesanal from Tijuana, as “Best Small Brewery”, thing that settles the excellent moment in the Baja California craft beer movement.
