TIJUANA. - The head of Tijuana's Tourism and Conventions Committee explained why he plans on keeping his post after the controversy that was caused by Tijuana's Red-Light District planned campaign, "Tijuana Coqueta" (Flirty Tijuana), despite pressure from the locals and even Tijuana's mayor, Jorge Aztiazarán.
Badiola was unanimously backed by the Tijuana tourism board (of which Badiola is president), comprised of public, business and civil leaders.
"I haven't committed any sins or have anything to be ashamed of," said Miguel Ángel Badiola, after his Council expressing support. "I've already apologized, was humble about it and know how to accept my mistakes."
He also stressed that the controversial campaign didn't plan on promoting sex tourism, instead it focused on the urban redevelopment of the area. He also dismissed that this initiative was a project by the local government or the Committee he leads, he clarified that it's actually a project headed by the Bars and Taverns of Tijuana Association.
