CALIFORNIA.- Morphine is a controlled drug that serves as a powerful painkiller, which is why we dont recommend its elaboration. However, a group of scientists from the University of California discovered that producing this drug at home is easier than what many would think.
Specially now with everyone making craft beer, anyone who has access to a brewing equipment, can easily create homemade morphine.
In order to prove this, yeast similar to the one use for making bread or beer was used, given that it transforms sugar, not into alcohol but into opioids such as the ones contain in the drug.
A report from BBC assured that the investigation was made with the sole purpose of finding new methods of morphine production, with cheaper and lesser ingredientes, given that previously plants such as poppies were used for opium extraction, a fundamental substance for morphine.
While morphine use is legal, its necessary to clarify that this drug should only be used when needed and under a medical prescription, making this promising yet alarming discovery, something that could benefit the drug dealing industry opening a passage for illegal drug creation in homes with equipment that is easy (and hardly suspicious) to find.
